ABSTRACT

The new type of gear transmission – the Kushelev transmission – is described. It has some advantages in comparison with hypoid transmission.

MAIN USAGES

Industries bound with manufacture and application of transmissions (automobiles, helicopters, machine tools...). May be used instead of hypoid gearing.

DESIGNATED PURPOSE

The coordination of angular velocities of details of machines.

THE BRIEF CHARACTERISTIC

The Kushelev gear transmission (see fig. 1) consists of internal gear shaped of an ellipsoid of rotation with the multistart screw thread (see fig. 2) and external gear shaped of a cup which internal surface is thrown into engagement with internal gear. The multiple spot of contact has the form of a closed strip on an internal surface of a cup (see fig. 1). The comparative parametres of hypoid transmission and the Kushelev transmission see in the table 1.

ADVANTAGES

The large contacting area (on all the perimeter) essentially allows to combine a gear pair with a plain bearing.

Table 1. Comparative parameters of the Kushelev transmission and hypoid transmission.
